French Empire Mahogany and Marble-Top Cabinet Stand, c. 1820-1840 - A handsome French Empire mahogany cabinet stand, circa 1820?1840, having a rectangular white marble top above a single frieze drawer with richly figured mahogany veneers and original gilt-bronze hardware, including a central wreath-form pull and opposing classical mask mounts. The case is flanked by rounded engaged columns with gilt-bronze collars, above an arched mirrored cabinet door opening to a fitted shelved interior. Raised on four carved paw feet, front and rear, giving the piece a strong architectural presence typical of the French Empire taste. Mirror plate appears old but likely replaced. 33.5 in. H, 17 in. W, 17 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition with expected wear from age and use. Marble top with surface wear, light staining, and small chips/flea bites along edges. Mahogany case with scattered veneer checking, shrinkage lines, surface scratches, finish wear, and minor separations visible to side panels. Mirror plate appears replaced but old. Interior shelf present. Original or period gilt-bronze mounts and pull retained.
