Set of Four Aesthetic Movement Ebonized and Gilt Nesting Tables, Raynal C. Bolling / Greenwich - An exquisite set of four graduated nesting tables, late 19th to early 20th century, in ebonized finish with gilt highlights and finely decorated tops featuring gilt botanical and fern motifs. Each rectangular table is raised on paired turned and fluted supports with gilt-ring accents, joined by shaped stretchers and ending in elaborate gilt paw-form feet with red-painted detail. The tables nest neatly as a graduated set and display a highly decorative Anglo-Japanese or Aesthetic Movement character, with striking contrast between the black ground, gilt ornament, and naturalistic leaf decoration. Accompanied by printed provenance material from the Greenwich Historical Society concerning Col. Raynal C. Bolling, an early American aviation figure and Greenwich resident associated with the Greyledge estate. Dimensions: largest approximately 28 in. H, 21 in. W, 13.5 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition overall with age-appropriate wear, including scattered finish wear, rubbing to gilt decoration, small chips and losses to ebonized surfaces, minor surface scratches, and expected wear to feet and edges. Presents exceptionally well as a complete graduated set.
