British Regency Rosewood Sarcophagus-Form Tea Poy, c. 1825 - A fine British Regency rosewood tea poy, circa 1825, the sarcophagus-form tea chest raised on a carved pedestal standard with lotus and foliate carving, above a rounded circular platform and four scrolling feet with brass casters. The hinged rectangular case opens to a fitted interior with two covered tea compartments and two cut glass mixing bowls, the whole retaining a handsome warm rosewood surface with strong figuring and elegant Regency proportions. 31 in. H, 15 in. W, 12.5 in. D. Condition: Good overall antique condition with age-appropriate wear, scattered surface scratches, minor abrasions, shrinkage, and finish wear. Rosewood case and pedestal present well, with expected wear to molded edges, feet, and base. Interior fitted compartments present; glass mixing bowls are old/period replacements and are slightly shallow for the apertures.
