English Regency Mahogany Cellarette, ca. 1820-1840 - A fine English Regency mahogany cellarette, early to mid-19th century, of sarcophagus form with a hinged pyramidal paneled lid opening to a lead- or zinc-lined fitted interior with divided bottle compartments. The case is finely veneered in figured mahogany with line-inlaid geometric paneling to the lid and sides, molded upper and lower edges, a small raised rectangular lid panel, and a working support stay. Raised on bold carved paw feet, the whole resting on casters. From Ormonde Plantation, Natchez, Mississippi. 22 in. H, 39.5 in. W, 22.5 in. D Condition: Good condition with age-appropriate surface wear, shrinkage, minor veneer separations, small losses, finish wear, and oxidation/wear to the fitted metal-lined interior.
