Regency Mahogany Tea Poy, English, C. 1820-1840 - English Regency mahogany tea poy, circa 1820-1840, the sarcophagus-form case with hinged lid opening to a fitted interior with lidded tea compartments and circular wells, likely for mixing bowls or canisters, lined in green baize. The case is raised on a faceted pedestal standard over an octagonal platform base, supported by four reeded downswept legs terminating in brass paw-form caps and casters. Fine warm mahogany surface with attractive figure, molded edges, and well-proportioned classical form. 32 in. H, 16 in. W, 12 in. D Condition: Presents well with scattered surface wear, small scratches, shrinkage lines, age cracks, minor veneer and finish wear, and expected wear to interior fittings and lining.
