Important Continental Renaissance Revival Rosewood, Mother-of-Pearl/ Brass Mounted Jewelry Casket - An exceptional Continental Renaissance Revival jewelry casket or table cabinet, late 19th century, richly executed in rosewood and mixed exotic veneers with mother-of-pearl and brass inlay throughout. The architectural case is of elaborate rectangular form with projecting canted and rounded ends, turned columnar supports, molded stepped lid, inset mother-of-pearl roundels, applied gilt-metal floral mounts, and a tasseled key. The hinged top opens to a mirror within a shaped architectural frame, above a finely divided fitted interior with covered compartments, curved side wells, lift-out sections, small drawers, and concealed storage elements. The exterior is lavishly ornamented with mother-of-pearl plaques and circular inlays, brass appliqu?s, turned columns, molded panels, and Renaissance Revival detailing. 9 in. H, 19.5 in. W, 11 in. D. Condition: Good overall antique condition with expected age-related surface wear, scattered veneer lifting and small losses, wear to interior lining, minor losses to mother-of-pearl and applied decoration, oxidation to metal mounts, and general finish wear consistent with age and use.
