American Classical Brass-Inlaid Mahogany Card Table, New York, c. 1820-1825 - A fine American Classical mahogany fold-over card table, likely New York, circa 1820-1825. The rectangular hinged top with canted corners and crossbanded border opens to a playing surface, above a conforming skirt with richly figured mahogany veneers and a central brass-inlaid foliate tablet. The table is raised on a boldly turned and carved pedestal standard with spiral-carved leaf decoration, set on a concave quadripartite platform base with carved acanthus knees, scroll-carved hairy paw feet, and brass casters. 29 in. H, 36 in. W, 18 in. D; opens to approximately 35.5 in. D. Condition: Good overall antique condition with expected age and use wear. Scattered surface scratches, finish wear, veneer checking, shrinkage lines and edge abrasions visible, particularly along the skirt, hinge edge, and top. Brass inlay appears largely intact with minor wear. Hinged top opens; brass hinges visible. Old surface with signs of prior polishing. Brass casters present.
