American Classical Mahogany Drop-Leaf Table, New York, Labeled, ca. 1825?1845 - A fine American Classical mahogany drop-leaf table, New York, second quarter 19th century, retaining a fragmentary paper maker?s label to the interior drawer bottom. The table features a richly figured rectangular top with rounded drop leaves, a single frieze drawer with cylindrical rounded front and gilt-brass lion-mask ring pull, raised on a boldly carved pedestal support with acanthus and gadrooned carving, above a shaped quadriform base terminating in carved paw feet with brass casters. From Ormonde Plantation, Natchez, Mississippi. 30.5 in. H, 23 in. W closed, 57 in. W extended, 42 in. D. Condition: Age-appropriate surface and finish wear, finish wear, shrinkage, minor losses and repairs, and wear to drawer and underside. Fragmentary maker?s label present in drawer but worn and partially illegible. Brass casters present.
