Important American Rococo Revival Laminated Rosewood Etagere, Attr. to J. & J.W. Meeks - Important American Rococo Revival carved and laminated rosewood marble-top Etagere, New York, mid-19th century, attributed to J. & J.W. Meeks. The elaborate open crest with bold laminated C-scrolls, acanthus and floral carving above a tiered mirror-back superstructure with shaped shelves, pierced scroll supports, and multiple mirror plates. The lower cabinet having a shaped white marble top over a highly carved serpentine base with pierced cabinet doors, side panels, drawers, and bold scrolled legs. A rare and highly decorative laminated rosewood parlor form with strong Southern provenance. Provenance: Annesdale Mansion, Memphis, Tennessee. 72 in H, 55 in W, 21 in D. Condition: Good antique condition with old dark surface, scattered finish wear, shrinkage, minor veneer and molding wear, age separations, and expected wear to marble.
