A. Campiglia, Philadelphia, Giltwood Pedal Harp - Fine decorative giltwood pedal harp, bearing engraved brass plate reading ”A. Campiglia, Harp Maker, Philadelphia, Pa., ” the arched frame with gilt column, carved figural capital, paw-form feet, brass-mounted neck, and natural wood soundbox. The harp is richly ornamented in the neoclassical taste with carved figural and foliate decoration. Strings appear to be later substitutes installed for appearance. From Ormonde Plantation, Natchez, Mississippi. 59 in. H, 16 in. W, 29 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition with surface wear, rubbing and oxidation to gilt and brass mounts, age cracks, separations and wear to wood body, abrasions, and later/nonfunctional replacement stringing.
