Boston Classical Mahogany Drop-Leaf Work / Sewing Table, Possibly Vose, c. 1820-1830 - A handsome Boston Classical mahogany drop-leaf work or sewing table, circa 1820-1830, the rectangular top with rounded hinged drop leaves above three graduated drawers with richly figured mahogany fronts and round gilt-metal pulls. The lower section retains the characteristic rounded work bag compartment, flanked by columnar supports joined by a low stretcher and raised on shaped trestle feet with brass casters. 28.5 in. H, 18.5 in. W, 18 in. D; 34 in. W with leaves extended. Condition: Good overall antique condition with expected age and use wear. Scattered surface scratches, finish wear, veneer checking, small edge losses, minor shrinkage separations, and abrasions, particularly to leaf edges, drawer fronts, and corners. Drawers retain period-style gilt-metal pulls. Casters present.
