R.J. Horner Carved Mahogany and Black Leather Sofa, Period, Late 19th Century - Period and authentic R.J. Horner carved mahogany sofa, late 19th century, retaining its original black leather upholstery. The sofa is executed in the Renaissance Revival taste with a deeply carved crest rail featuring scrolling foliate decoration and a central mask, flanked by carved end blocks and bold scrolled arms. The front supports are heavily carved with turned and foliate elements, rising from carved plinth feet, with nailhead trim and a shaped molded base. 38 in. H, 85 in. W, 31 in. D. Condition: Good condition with age-appropriate wear to the mahogany frame and original leather upholstery, including creasing, surface wear, scuffs, minor losses, and expected wear from age and use.
