Pair of R.J. Horner Style Carved Mahogany Lion-Head Armchairs - Pair of finely carved mahogany armchairs in the manner of R.J. Horner, New York, late 19th century, each having an upholstered rectangular back and deep upholstered seat within a shaped mahogany frame, the crest and front stiles carved with bold lion-mask terminals and foliate detail. The chairs feature sweeping open arms with rounded hand rests, molded seat rails, and carved paw feet, retaining a rich reddish-brown mahogany surface and upholstered in red and cream floral fabric with matching small lumbar pillows. 42.5 in. H, 28 in. W, 19.5 in. D, 14 in. seat height. Condition: Overall good antique condition with minor wear, scattered surface marks, and finish wear consistent with age and use. Upholstery presents well with some age-appropriate wear and fading.
