American Classical Mahogany Card Table, Salem, Massachusetts, Circa 1820-1840 - A fine American Classical mahogany card table, likely Salem, Massachusetts, second quarter 19th century, with a shaped fold-over top above a conforming figured mahogany apron. The table is raised on richly carved and turned legs with spiral-twist shafts and finely carved bellflower or acanthus-leaf decoration at the upper sections, terminating in turned tapered feet. The boldly shaped top, figured apron panels, and highly decorative legs give the table strong presence, while the rear swing leg supports the top when opened for card or games use. Dimensions: 29 in. H, 39.5 in. W, 19 in. D closed, 38.5 in. D extended. Condition: Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, including minor surface scratches, scuffs, and small finish imperfections. Top and apron present well, with attractive mahogany figure. Wear consistent with age and use.
