American Classical Mahogany Two-Drawer Work Table or Sewing Stand, c. 1830-1850 - An attractive American Classical mahogany work table or sewing stand, circa 1830-1850, having a rectangular drop-leaf case with richly figured mahogany veneers, two stacked drawers with rounded fronts, and circular brass pulls. The case is raised on a distinctive lyre-form support above a molded plinth and shaped scrolled base with small casters. 30.5 in. H, 19 in. W, 36.5 in. W extended, 19.5 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition with expected age and use wear. Scattered surface scratches, finish wear, veneer checking, small veneer losses and abrasions, especially around drawer fronts, case edges, and base. Drawers show wear to interiors and sides, with shrinkage and age-related discoloration. Brass pulls appear period or old replacements. Drop leaves and casters present.
