Horner - A set of six carved oak Renaissance Revival dining chairs, late 19th century, formerly part of a larger carved oak dining suite. Each chair features a highly pierced and carved crest with scrolling foliate ornament, central cartouche, mask-carved stiles, fluted supports, carved lower stretcher, paw-form front feet, and upholstered slip seat. A bold and decorative set with strong Renaissance Revival character, suitable for use with the accompanying dining table and sideboard offered separately in this sale. Part of a highly carved American Renaissance Revival dining suite, attributed to R.J. Horner & Co., New York, and offered in related lots in this sale. 39 in. H, 18.5 in. W, 17 in. D, 19.5 in. seat height. Condition: good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, finish rubbing, minor chips and abrasions, scattered old repairs or small losses, and later upholstery.
