French Napoleon III Boulle-Style Ebonized Cabinet, 19th Century - A French Napoleon III ebonized cabinet, 19th century, decorated in the Boulle taste with elaborate brass-mounted ornament and red-and-gold arabesque panels. The rectangular case features a black ebonized surface with gilt-brass egg-and-dart, rope, foliate, and figural mounts, centered by a single large paneled door with an oval cartouche of scrolling brass-inlaid decoration and corresponding corner panels. The frieze is similarly ornamented with red tortoiseshell-style and brass scrollwork, above side pilasters mounted with gilt-brass figural and foliate elements. The door opens to a red velvet-lined interior with a single shelf, all raised on a molded plinth base with shaped apron and additional gilt-brass mounts. Dimensions: 44.5 in. H, 35.5 in. W, 15 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition overall with age-appropriate surface wear, scuffs, scratches, rubbing, and small losses. Some visible touch-up to the front panel and areas of loss or lifting to brass inlay and mounts, as shown. Interior velvet lining shows age, wear, and fading.
