French Napoleon III Ebonized, Inlaid, and Gilt-Mounted Sewing Stand, 19th Century - French Napoleon III sewing stand, 19th century, with ebonized frame, richly figured burlwood panels, gilt-bronze mounts, and fine decorative inlay. The shaped rectangular hinged top is centered by an inlaid urn and foliate motif within contrasting borders, with matching star-form inlay at the rounded corners. The lift-top opens to reveal an original fitted interior with divided compartments and an inset mirror to the underside of the lid. The case is raised on elegant curved supports joined by a shaped stretcher with central turned finial, with gilt-bronze mounts accenting the apron, corners, knees, and feet. Dimensions: 29.5 in. H, 21.5 in. W, 14.5 in. D. Condition: Good antique condition overall with age-appropriate wear, including minor scuffs, rubbing, small losses to gilding and ebonized surfaces, and expected wear to the fitted interior. Mirror appears original with age-related silvering and haze.
