Pair Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Chairs - Origin: Probably England Date: Circa 1890-1910 Period/Style: Late Victorian / Edwardian Neoclassical Revival Materials: Mahogany and related hardwood, contrasting wood inlay, upholstery, and casters Form: Pair of low parlor or salon side chairs Description: A fine pair of English Edwardian mahogany parlor chairs with low, generously upholstered seats and decorative Neoclassical backs. Each curved crest rail is inlaid with a classical urn flanked by scrolling flowering vines above a pierced urn-form splat centered by an inlaid shield panel. The frames are further outlined with contrasting string inlay and raised on ring-turned front legs terminating in casters. Upholstered in coordinating green and cream striped floral fabric. Dimensions: Each 28 in. H; 19 in. W; 17 in. D. Provenance: From a Yazoo City, Mississippi estate.
