Von Schierholz Figural Porcelain Lamp - Maker: Von Schierholz Porcelain Manufactory Origin: Plaue, Thuringia, Germany Date: First half 20th century Period/Style: Rococo Revival in the Dresden taste Materials: Hand-painted and gilt porcelain, lithophane porcelain, brass, and electrical fittings Form: Figural porcelain table lamp Description: A fine marked Von Schierholz hand-painted porcelain table lamp modeled with four colorfully dressed figures dancing around a tree-form standard. The rocaille base and domed pierced shade are richly ornamented with applied polychrome flowers and gilt highlights. Four oval lithophane panels encircle the shade, which is surmounted by a flower-encrusted finial. Fitted with two pull-chain light sockets. Marks: Blue crowned-shield and wreath factory marks incorporating three leaves and the founding date 1817. The shade is additionally marked handpainted. Numbered 20 and 43. Dimensions: 26 in.
