Sheraton Mahogany Cookie-Corner Work Table - Origin: Probably New England Date: Circa 1830-1845 Period/Style: Late Federal, Sheraton Materials: Mahogany, figured mahogany veneer, unidentified secondary woods, brass hardware, and metal fasteners Form: Two-drawer work table or stand Description: A fine American Sheraton mahogany work table, probably New England, circa 1830-1845. The thin rectangular top is veneered in strongly figured matched mahogany and shaped with pronounced rounded cookie corners at all four corners. Two graduated drawers with paired brass pulls are framed by boldly ring-turned front corner posts. The posts continue into slender tapering legs, complemented by more delicately turned rear legs. Hand-cut dovetail construction, handsome proportions, and an unusual four-lobed top. Dimensions: 29 in. H, 23.5 in. W, 21 in. D.
