Fine Pairpoint Papillon Butterfly and Rose Puffy Table Lamp - Maker: Pairpoint Manufacturing Company, New Bedford, Massachusetts Date: Early 20th century, circa 1907-1920 Period/Style: American Art Nouveau Materials: Reverse-painted molded glass and patinated metal Form: Two-light table lamp Description: A fine Pairpoint Papillon table lamp retaining its reverse-painted puffy glass shade decorated with large pink and crimson roses, green foliage, flowering branches, and vividly colored butterflies against a softly mottled ground. The molded shade has a lobed, undulating profile and closed floral-form crown embellished with gilt linework. Raised upon a patinated metal base with a quatrefoil platform, ball feet, elongated floral-engraved standard, and an openwork section incorporating stylized butterflies and scrolling Art Nouveau ornament. Fitted with two pull-chain sockets. The shade is stamped The Pairpoint Corp'n and Patented July 9th, 1907. The underside of the base is marked Pairpoint Mfg. Co. with the diamond-P trademark and model number B3084. Dimensions: 21 in. H; shade 15 in. diameter.
