Italian Majolica Greyhound on Cushion - Origin: Italy Date: Circa 1960 Period/Style: Mid-century Italian, Hollywood Regency Materials: Hand-painted glazed terracotta or majolica Description: A large Italian hand-painted majolica sculpture of a seated greyhound or whippet. The alert dog is modeled with a pale-gray coat, amber eyes, and a broad brown collar hung with ochre-yellow tassels. It rests upon a vivid yellow cushion bordered with turquoise-blue cord and corner tassels. The underside is brush-inscribed with model or production number 203/4 and Italy. Marks: Brush-inscribed 203/4 above Italy on the underside. This is a handwritten production notation rather than an identifiable factory stamp. Dimensions: 26.5 in. H, 11 in. W, 15.5 in. D.
