English Victorian Burl Walnut Work Table - Origin: England Date: Circa 1860-1880 Period/Style: Victorian Materials: Burl walnut veneer, walnut, lightwood marquetry, textile, brass, and metal casters Form: Sewing or work table Description: An English Victorian burl-walnut sewing or work table with a boldly shaped hinged top and fitted interior. The lid opens to reveal a finely figured burr-walnut panel bordered by lightwood foliate marquetry, above divided compartments and a fabric-covered removable panel enclosing a central well. A suspended textile work bag with tassel fringe is framed by spiral-carved and ring-turned supports joined by a turned stretcher, above carved splayed feet ending in casters. Dimensions: 28 in. H, 25 in. W, 17 in. D.
