Origin: American, probably Date: Circa 1910-1925 Period/Style: Rococo Revival and Beaux-Arts Materials: Gilt cast metal, brass, and iridescent blown art glass Description: An elaborate early-20th-century three-light chandelier in the Rococo Revival and Beaux-Arts taste. The richly ornamented frame has a baluster-form standard above three scrolling foliate arms, floral and acanthus decoration, pendant tassels, pierced scrollwork, and a boldly cast urn-form lower body. The chandelier is fitted with three matched ribbed bell-form shades of gold-iridescent blown art glass displaying amber, green, blue, rose, and violet highlights. The shades bear worn silvered R.G.F. marks at their fitter rims Marks: Shades marked R.G.F. in worn silver-colored surface stamps. Later sockets stamped EAGLE / 250W / 250V. Dimensions: 32 in. H, 32 in. D, 2.5 in. Condition: Presents attractively with scattered oxidation, tarnish, surface grime, abrasions, and variation or losses to the gilt finish. The glass shades appear intact through their bodies and exhibit expected surface wear and natural variations from hand manufacture. Fitter rims show roughness, scattered flakes or chips, and losses to the applied R.G.F. marks, principally concealed when installed. Fitted with later Eagle sockets and wiring.
