Rocky outcroppings and dense foliage frame the foreground, opening onto distant blue mountains and a solitary sailboat upon the water. Signed C. T. Mitchell at lower right and presented in an ornate gilt-composition frame with floral and foliate ornament. Dimensions: Canvas approximately 18 in. H, 24 in. W. Frame: 28 in. H, 36 in. W. Condition: Presents well overall with craquelure, surface grime, scattered spotting and accretions, minor abrasions, and several small paint losses, particularly within the sky. Areas of possible old retouching cannot be excluded. The canvas appears unlined, with no obvious tears or reverse patches. The frame exhibits rubbing, finish variation, cracking, and scattered small losses to the applied composition ornament. Not examined under ultraviolet light. Dimensions: 18 x 24 in
