Rococo Revival Rosewood Marble-Top Table - Origin: American, probably Northeast Date: Circa 1860-1875 Period/Style: American Rococo Revival Materials: Rosewood, white marble Form: Center table Description: American Rococo Revival rosewood center table, circa 1860-1875. The substantial oval white marble top rests above a conforming apron ornamented with carved palmettes, scrollwork, and floral corner blocks. Four shaped cabriole supports terminate in scrolling feet fitted with casters and are joined by a curvilinear quadripartite stretcher centered by a carved urn-form finial. The table follows the broad vocabulary of mid-19th-century New York Rococo Revival furniture, including of similar form to the Meeks Hawkins pattern table. Dimensions: 30 in. H, 45 in. W, 28 in. D.
