W. Meeks. The serpentine kneehole case incorporates a wide frieze drawer with figured maple interior beneath a conforming black-and-gold marble slab. Sweeping S-scroll cabriole supports are joined by curved stretchers centering an unusual open basket-form ornament. A large shaped looking glass rises between paired three-tier graduated whatnot galleries composed of pierced Gothic tracery panels, spiral-turned supports, scrolling brackets, and urn finials. The distinctive galleries, case configuration, supports, and basket-centered stretcher closely correspond to a documented stenciled Meeks dressing table. Marks: No maker label, stencil, or stamped number has been documented. Dimensions: 66 in. H, 53.5 in. W, 25.5 in. D.
