Burl Walnut Marble-Top Mirrored Dresser - Origin: American Date: Circa 1870-1880 Period/Style: Renaissance Revival with Rococo Revival influence Materials: Walnut, burl walnut veneer, white marble, mirror glass, black pendant pulls, metal hardware Form: Marble-top dresser with looking glass and side galleries Description: A fine American Renaissance Revival walnut and burl walnut dresser. The serpentine-front case contains four graduated drawers faced in richly figured burl veneer and decorated with carved foliate escutcheon surrounds, pendant pulls, and fluted corner standards. A conforming white marble slab supports an elaborate arched looking glass framed by carved foliage and surmounted by a pierced crest with central shield-form cartouche. Paired quarter-round display galleries with mirrored backs, turned supports, and finials flank the mirror. Dimensions: 79.5 in. H, 42 in. W, 20 in. D.
