Victorian Walnut Marble-Top Dresser - Origin: American Date: Circa 1870-1885 Period/Style: High Victorian Renaissance Revival Materials: Walnut and burl walnut, white marble, and mirror glass Form: Dressing chest with mirror Description: American High Victorian Renaissance Revival walnut dressing chest, circa 1870-1885. A shaped white marble top surmounts a serpentine-front case fitted with four hand-dovetailed drawers having carved fruit-and-foliate wooden pulls. The tall arched mirror is framed by molded scrollwork, burl panels, and small trefoil mirror plates. Its elaborate pierced crest centers a carved pear-form fruit among flowering vines, while carved corner ornaments and a molded plinth complete the case. Dimensions: 92 in. H, 46 in. W, 23.5 in. D.
