Thomas Brooks Marble-Top Table - Maker: Attributed to Thomas Brooks (1811-1887) Origin: Brooklyn, New York Date: Circa 1865-1870 Period/Style: American Renaissance Revival Materials: Walnut, white marble, and metal casters Description: Attributed to Thomas Brooks, Brooklyn, New York, circa 1865-1870. The American Renaissance Revival walnut parlor table has an oval white marble top with molded edge above a conforming shaped apron applied with oval cabochons, recessed panels, and turned pendant drops. Four incurved molded supports surround a turned central standard with ball knop and rise from a serpentine quadripartite base ornamented with scrolls, urn-form finials, and ring-turned feet fitted with casters. Dimensions: 29 in. H, 33.5 in. W, 25.5 in. D. Condition: Presents well with an old refinished surface, scattered scratches, abrasions, shrinkage separations, minor edge wear, and evidence of age-related repairs. Marble has staining, discoloration, scratches, and small edge nicks but no obvious major break visible in the photographs.
