Victorian Parlor Oil Lamp with ABCO Rochester Burner - Maker: Burner marked ABCO Rochester Origin: United States Date: Late 19th century, circa 1885-1900 Period/Style: American Victorian / Renaissance Revival Materials: Brass, cast and pressed metal, patinated metal, and etched opaline glass Form: Parlor oil lamp Description: An elaborate Victorian parlor oil lamp retaining its oil-burning configuration. The pierced spherical font is densely ornamented with floral and foliate motifs, applied borders, and a radiating leaf-form gallery. It is supported by an architectural standard with scroll capitals above a baluster-form lower body retaining a verdigris-green patinated surface and applied gilt-metal ornament. The pierced circular base is raised on four paw feet. Retaining an ABCO Rochester-marked center-draft burner and an opaline glass globe etched with floral sprays, ribbons, and classical urn motifs.
