Dehua Blanc-de-Chine Guanyin with Attendants - Maker: Unidentified Dehua workshop; bearing Xu Yunlin-type seals Origin: Dehua, Fujian Province, China Date: Late Qing dynasty to Republic period, circa 1900-1940 Period/Style: Chinese Dehua blanc-de-Chine Materials: Glazed porcelain Form: Buddhist devotional figure group Description: A Chinese Dehua blanc-de-Chine porcelain figure group depicting Guanyin seated in royal ease upon a pierced rockwork throne above stylized waves and lotus blossoms. The bodhisattva wears elaborately modeled robes and jewelry, with the hair arranged beneath a foliate diadem. Two youthful attendants appear in prayerful poses beside the throne. The reverse bears a double-gourd impressed seal and an additional square workshop seal associated with the Xu Yunlin tradition. The complex openwork rockwork, curling waves, layered drapery, and attendant figures create a particularly sculptural composition. Dimensions: 16.5 in. H; 8.5 in. W; 7 in. D. Literature/Reference: P.
