Kentucky Cherry Bonnet Chest of Drawers - Origin: Probably Kentucky Date: Circa 1830-1845 Period/Style: American Empire Materials: Cherry with pine secondary woods Form: Bonnet chest of drawers Description: American Empire cherry bonnet chest of drawers, probably Kentucky, circa 1830-1845. The rectangular top surmounts an unusually deep projecting bonnet drawer above three full-width drawers, all hand-dovetailed and fitted with turned wooden pulls. The lower drawer bank is flanked by boldly ring-turned engaged columns continuing into bulbous feet, with matching turned rear feet. Each end has two recessed panels, while broad horizontal pine boards form the back. Dimensions: 45 in. H, 44 in. W, 20.5 in. D.
