Gothic Revival Mahogany Marble-Top Table - Origin: American, probably New York Date: Circa 1860-1875 Period/Style: Gothic Revival Materials: Mahogany and flame mahogany veneer, white marble, and metal casters Form: Parlor or center table Description: American Gothic Revival flame mahogany parlor table, probably New York, circa 1860-1875. The shaped white marble top with molded edge rests above a scalloped flame-veneered apron centered by a carved floral cartouche. Opposing open trestle supports incorporate scrolling Gothic arches, pendant tassel ornament, and slender vertical tracery. A richly pierced stretcher centers a circular wheel-window medallion between shaped feet ornamented with urn finials and fitted with casters. Dimensions: 29.5 in. H, 34.5 in. W, 20.5 in. D.
