Kentucky Sheraton Walnut Sugar Chest - Origin: Probably Kentucky Date: Circa 1830-1850 Period/Style: Southern Sheraton Materials: Walnut, secondary woods, and metal hardware Form: Drawerless sugar chest Description: Southern Sheraton walnut sugar chest, probably Kentucky, circa 1830-1850. The unusual drawerless form has a rectangular hinged lid with applied molded edge above a lockable post-and-panel case. Two recessed panels define the facade, with corresponding paneled ends and back. The corner stiles continue into boldly turned legs ending in ball feet. The presently open interior has no divider. Dimensions: 28 in. H, 36.5 in. W, 19 in. D. Provenance: From a Richland, Kentucky estate.
