The twin oval button-tufted backs rise beneath pierced crests centered by relief-carved helmeted classical profiles and flank an elaborate architectural center standard with an additional portrait medallion. Burl-walnut banding and contrasting foliate inlay ornament the frame, arms, and shaped apron, raised on ring-turned legs. Originally part of a matching three-piece parlor suite; see the pair of armchairs offered as Lot 133. Dimensions: 42.5 in. H, 69 in. W, 19 in. D. Seat height 15 in.
