Spanish School "Joseph and the Angel" 19th century
Oil on canvas. Unsigned.
It represents the moment when Joseph receives the news that his wife Mary is expecting a child in a dream. On the cartouche that holds the angel there is a verse from "Joseph, fili David", a Gregorian chant composed by Juan de Figueredo in the second half of the 17th century. Regular state of preservation, with damages and craquelure.
