Bidspirit auction | ”Zun” vase with lugs, Longquan

”Zun” vase with lugs, Longquan kiln, Southern Song dynasty - A Zun-shaped porcelain vase inspired by ancient ritual bronzes. The vase has a globular body that rises towards a slightly flaring cylindrical neck with a straight rim. It has two characteristic side handles in the form of tubular lugs, symmetrically arranged at the top of the body, giving balance to the composition. It is covered with a translucent celadon glaze of a soft green hue, which allows the texture of the underlying ceramic paste to be appreciated. The surface is decorated with a fine natural reticulated crackle of the glaze in ochre tones. The base shows the typical unglazed ring, revealing the beige-toned ceramic paste. Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) or later. Height: 16.3 cm; Base diameter: 6.7 cm; Mouth diameter: 8.1 cm
