Shoushan seal “Reclining Beast”, Qing Dynasty - A carved Shoushan stone of an orange hue with a rectangular base. It depicts a reclining mythical beast with a sinuous body, formed of scrollwork and thick carved hair, and a serene expression, with closed jaws and large almond-shaped eyes. The front face bears an incised inscription. The base bears carved characters. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912). Size: 4.5 x 3.4 x 6.6 cm Weight: 181 g Provenance: French private collection.
