Spinach-green jade ‘Guanyin’, Qing Dynasty - Natural jade of an intense, deep spinach green colour, with flecks of dark magnetite scattered across the surface. It depicts the deity Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, in a standing posture of great elegance and balance. She appears with an expression of profound serenity, holding a delicate mala of spherical beads in her hands. The work on the robes is particularly skilful, with flowing folds.
