On October 26, 1810, the Spanish Artillery launched a howitzer from the "Los Ángeles" battery on the island of León (Bay of Cádiz), causing the death of Alexandre-Antoine Hureau de Sénarmont (1769 - 1810), one of the most laureates of the French Army. As soon as Napoleon learned what had happened, he decreed that Sénarmont's heart be transferred to Paris and deposited with the greatest pomp in the Pantheon, where the great dignitaries of state were buried.
This interesting watercolor documents with great precision the details of the military deed.
