Imposing gilded and engraved cast copper ciborium decorated with champlevé enamels. Limoges. France. Romanesque. 13th century. - The upper part of the lid has 6 angels, each in their own section, and is decorated with champlevé enamel in sky blue, lapis lazuli, turquoise, green, red and white tones. The foot is decorated with foliage motifs and champlevé enamel in lapis lazuli blue, green and red tones. The centre of the stem has a hexagonal knot. The cross from the top and the bolt from the fastener are not preserved. The white enamel has been retouched at a later date. The ciborium, or pyx, is a receptacle in the shape of a chalice used to store the Holy Sacrament. 26,5 x 12,1 cm. This item has been declared unexportable by the Spanish Ministry of Culture
