”Christ crucified”. Polychromed corn cane wood sculpture. 17th century Colonial School. Mexico. - These types of sculptures were influenced by indigenous art and were made with dried and milled maize cane mixed with the gum of orchids or poisonous plants to avoid infestations. The result was a light, malleable and long-lasting sculpture. The internal structure was generally made with corn cane which gave the body and extremities shape. 87 x 64 cm.
