Das Tagebuch, Munchen den 4. Februar 1933. Heft 5, Jahrgang 14. Pages 161-200 (40 pp).
First issue after appointment of Hitler as Kanzler of Germany, one of last issues before closure of this publication and its move as exile periodical to Paris. Includes the original half-page advertisement that reads "Kanzler Hitler".
The issue contains several articles about Hitler…
On 30 January 1933 Hitler was Appointed as Kanzler of Germany. This is the first issue of this left wing anti-fascist weekly magazine, issued 5 days later, on February 4th, and its main subject is the appointment of Hitler.
Tage-Buch ceased publication a short time afterwards, under Nazi rule, and re-opened as Exil publication in Paris later the same year.
During its years of existence many important well known writers contributed to Tagebuch, among them Walter Benjamin, Max Brod, Hermann Broch, Hans Fallada, Erich Kästner, Egon Erwin Kisch, Thomas Mann, Robert Musil and others.
From today's perspective, one of the most outstanding merits of the Tage-Buch is the early and prophetic realization that Adolf Hitler posed a serious threat to the Weimar Republic.
Back cover has tear with small loss. Otherwise very good condition.
