Late 19th Century Pastime Plug Tobacco Lithographed Tin Advertising Box, John Finzer and Bros. - - An antique lithographed tin-plated steel store display box for Pastime brand plug tobacco, manufactured by John Finzer and Bros. of Louisville, Kentucky. The exterior lid features a sepia-toned hunting scene depicting a hunter in Victorian-era sporting dress aiming a shotgun at birds, accompanied by a hunting dog in a field landscape. The interior lid contains a vibrant multi-color lithograph showing a jockey in striped silks jumping a dark horse over a rustic fence, with a small Pastime Plug Tobacco label in the corner. The sides of the tin are decorated with red and black graphics including the brand name and legal cautionary text. Star-shaped logos containing initials are located on the front corners. A small printer mark for Ginna and Co. N.Y. is visible on the bottom left of the lid.
