Both items serve as early 20th-century promotional novelties. The first item is a folding multi-tool advertising the Brown-Forman Distillery Company. The tool features a combination folding blade with an integrated bottle opener and a separate folding corkscrew. The handle scales are constructed of a yellowed celluloid or plastic composition. The handle is printed with the text Brown-Forman Distillery Co. Inc. at Louisville in Kentucky Since 1870. The tang of the combination blade is stamped with the maker mark The W. and H. Co. Newark N.J. The second item is a folding pen knife advertising John P. Morton and Company. This knife features two folding steel blades, including a spear-point and a smaller pen blade. The handle scales are made of embossed silver-toned metal, likely nickel silver. One side is embossed with Established in 1826 John P. Morton and Co. Incorporated Louisville, Kentucky.
