Art Deco Silver-Plated Flatware for the Brown Hotel, - This group of silver-plated flatware comprises heavy-gauge hotel plate pieces manufactured by the International Silver Co. specifically for the historic Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. The collection includes spoons and forks featuring an Art Deco-style design with decorative vertical ribbing running the length of the tapered handles. The reverse of each handle is stamped with the maker name INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO. and the provenance inscription BROWN HOTEL CO. LOUISVILLE, KY. One piece additionally bears the mark IS BP for International Silver, Silver Plate. These pieces served as part of the commercial tableware service for the landmark institution, which opened in 1923.
