Bidspirit auction | Antique American Country Primitive Red-Painted

Antique American Country Primitive Red-Painted Wood Stool 16”X17” - A single American country primitive stool constructed from wood, likely a hardwood such as maple or ash. The stool features a thick, circular seat supported by splayed, turned legs. The legs are detailed with ring-turned accents at the tops and terminate in grooved, ring-turned feet. Stability is provided by three round stretchers joined to the legs in a triangular configuration using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. The stool is finished in a heavily distressed red paint, showing characteristic alligatoring and losses that reveal darker underlying layers.
