Cast Iron Horse Head Hitching Post Topper 4”X7”X10” - A cast iron hitching post topper or finial in the form of a horse head. The figure is realistically modeled with a textured mane and upright ears. A loose-hanging non-ferrous yellow metal ring, likely brass, is passed through the muzzle. The base of the neck is flared and features a cast chevron or zig-zag border pattern. The underside of the base has been machined flat and includes a central circular opening. A small set-screw is located on the side of the base flange for securing the head to a post. The object is finished in a matte black paint. No maker marks or manufacturer stamps are visible on the exterior or the machined underside.
